I’ve always loved a Treasure Hunt. My mum used to create brilliant hunts for my sister, brother and I when we were kids. We’d dash from a cryptic message left  under a pillow, to the toilet cistern, to the garden fence. Don’t ask how! My mum was smart. She’d have us tired out after just 30 minutes of her special treasure hunts.

So why am I rambling on? Well, I have been alerted to a treasure hunt style cycling event that is being staged by the fabulous Bike Station in Edinburgh. The idea is to leave your car at home and join in the free fun of the Bike Station’s Postcode Challenge, which takes place on June 12.

The Bike Station – in conjunction with The People’s Postcode Lottery – is running this family-friendly event, during which participants have to find  10 cards  at different postcodes along the North Edinburgh traffic-free cycling pathways. The Bike Station’s brilliant Innertube map will help guide you around the quiet and scenic routes.

Simply collect all 10 cards, hand them in and you will be in with a chance of winning a great prize. (Prizes have been donated by Tisos / Alpine Bikes, Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative, The Cameo Cinema, The Filmhouse, Royal Yacht Britannia , Gorgie City Farm, The Bridge Inn, Ratho, The National Trust for Scotland and Edinburgh and Lothian Greenspace Trust.)

If it was not for my entry to the Peebles Triathlon I might l have headed along to try this event with Little Miss Outdoors. It would be great to hear how you get on.
