I have been testing the BrüMate Strova tumbler during everyday life and as part of a range of different activities, such as hiking, running and wild swimming. The BrüMate Strova tumbler features what the brand describes as “leakproof technology”.

My thoughts: BrüMate Strova coffee tumbler

There are so many different coffee cup flasks on the market these days and we have a few in our cupboard. I always know when I have received a good product for testing because it becomes the one I go to above all the others. (Believe me, there are plenty of items that I have tested that end up demoted to the back of my cupboards.)

The BrüMate Strova is firmly front of cupboard and, in fact, it has been in almost constant use since receiving it.

Ready for coffee at home.

The tumbler is both practical and aesthetically pleasing. In addition, the silicone base makes it comfortable to hold. The lid easily twists on and off, yet it remains leakproof when secured on. There is the added benefit of a lockable MagFlip lid. This ensures that even when turned upside down, the liquid inside can’t escape.

To open the MagFlip lid to drink is simple. You just slide the safety clip backwards and then flip up the lid. The feature I really like is that the flip lid then stays securely back against the top of the lid. This means you can tip up the tumbler to drink and without worrying about the flip lid falling forwards to hit you in the face.

It sounds more complex than it is but basically you open the lid, it stays put, you take a drink and then you can flip back the lid to keep the liquid inside

I have used the cup for hot and cold drinks. Both stay hot or cold for many hours.

It’s a great asset for a coffee in the morning when driving to reach the location for a run or a hike. It’s also perfect for when I need a hot drink after a loch swim.

On hot days, I’ve welcomed a chilled drink – I add ice before leaving home – at the end of a run or hike.

The liquids are not tainted by any taste of stainless steel; they simply taste of whatever you have added to the cup rather than metal. I have a few similar cups that taste metallic and I really don’t like that.

I like that the silicone base offers good hand grip and keeps the cup nicely in place in my van cup holder. You can remove the silicone if you wish.

I have washed the cup in the dishwasher many times and it comes out as good as new. Having a large top, once the lip has been removed, means you can fully wash the inside of the cup.

My only negative comment is the colour of the cup I have. Light lilac is likely to end up a bit grubby in time, whereas a darker hue would be a better choice I think.

The cup is priced at £29.95, which is not cheap but I think it will prove to be a durable and long-lasting cup. It has certainly coped well with the rough and tumble of my outdoors life over recent months. Also, it’s much better for the environment if we have reusable cups for drinks, rather than buying coffee or cold drinks in throwaway cups and bottles.
