Kit review: Hi-Tec Sierra Lite walking boots

Written by Fiona Outdoors September 25 2014 —

Walking boots do not have to be made of brown leather. There are many that are, and serve hill walkers very well, but these days there are also boots that are designed in lighter weight materials and come in a range of funky colours.

o003138_052_4Hi-Tec have been behind some of the brightest looking walking boots of recent years and their Sierra Lite range is a good example. The women’s Sierra Lite Waterproof Original Boots are funky looking in hues of denim, plum and charcoal.

But don’t be fooled. Just because the boots have a thoroughly modern styling, it doesn’t mean they are lacking in the practical department. The boots are waterproof and breathable, and also feature many of the qualities that most keen walkers have come to expect in a boot:

  • Versatile and secure lacing system
  • Moisture wicking lining
  • Soft and padded collar
  • Removable EVA sockliner for extra cushioning.
  • “Multi-directional Traction” hiking outsole.

Testing Hi-tec Sierra Lite boots

tu261_o003137-052-1The boots are comfortable. It’s like pulling on a pair of trainers. Yet they also tick all the practical boxes that they state on the label. They are particularly good at gripping, even on muddy terrain thanks to a sturdy and well studded sole.

For me, these are walking boots that are perfect for walking the dog in the park or on lower-level country trails. I’d also wear them to the pub or for general mucking about outdoors.

They are priced well at £54.99 and would make a good choice if you walk to work, especially as the wetter and chillier autumn and winter months come in. See Hi-Tec. There is also a men’s version in great colourways, too.
