Infographic: How To Fuel a Grand Tour

Cyclists obviously burn a lot of calories when taking part in high level and endurance events, such as the Tour de France. Modern sports science also recommends that re-fuelling should be done with the right nutritional balance and ingredients for optimum performance.

This infographic reveals what Team Sky’s top riders will be fuelling on during the Grand Tour.

Created by SiS Science in Sport the graphic takes us from pre-race breakfast and a flat stage day of the race through to a mountainous stage day and time trial, as well as, of course, the post-race recovery fuel.

Apparently, 24 medal-winning athletes or teams at the 2012 London Olympics used SiS products, while the brand was also the official sports nutrition supplier to Team Wiggins.

Thanks to the team at Science In Sport for the infographic.
