New UTMB qualifying race: Ochil Ultra

Written by Fiona

February 28 2017

I wrote about the new Ochil Ultra long-distance running event in my recent Sunday Mail outdoors column. Read the pdf. Now it has now become an official qualifying race for the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB).

The UTMB is a single-stage mountain ultramarathon that takes place annually in the Alps and follows the route of the Tour du Mont Blanc through France, Italy and Switzerland. To register for a chance to compete in the UTMB you must gain qualifying points through identified races. It’s great news that the Ochil Ultra is a qualifying race. The 50-mile ultra offers four points, while the 30-mile event gives two points.

Don’t forget to buy your tickets for the Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoors Pursuits event at the SECC in Glasgow in March, too.
