Weight is critical if you are going to be carrying a tent while backpacking or during an adventure race. The quest for many is a two-person tent that weighs less than 1kg. You will generally have to pay a premium for a lightweight tent. The designs of lightweight tents and the materials and fabrics utilised tend to command higher prices. However, a tent is usually a long-term investment and, personally, I prefer to carry less while walking or adventure racing.
