Award-winning film SOLO in special London screening

A special film screening at London’s Royal Geographic Society on October 20, 2023, reveals the powerful story of Montane athlete Jenny Tough.

SOLO takes the audience on an extraordinary journey as Jenny crosses mountain ranges on six continents, tackling some of the most remote and off-the-beaten track landscapes, solo and unsupported. Over five years, the film reveals how she learns lessons in resilience, self-esteem and bravery.

Jenny, who describes herself as an adventure traveller and endurance challenger, says: “Going on a solo adventure adds many layers of challenges to an expedition that I think brings integrity to the pursuit.

“It is great to be able to share the film to a new audience and help to inspire people to get out there and take on their next challenge.”

The film evening is presented by Montane and includes never-before-seen footage, as well as a talk and Q&A with Jenny and the award-winning SOLO filmmaker, Ellie Green. The event is hosted by Keme Nzerem, a TV presenter and co-founder of Opening up the Outdoors.

Ellie, a director of Summit Fever Media, remarks: “To take a story that is so immensely personal, but equally groundbreaking, in the world of adventure, endurance and ultra running and do justice to that journey is a scary prospect. But a summer spent filming, running, drinking wine, laughing, crying and deep diving into Jenny’s journey helped to weave the story together.”

Ellie won Documentary Filmmaker of the Year from Pro Moviemaker Magazine for SOLO. The film has also been selected by 12 film festivals worldwide, receiving a finalist position, an honourable mention and three awards.
